Water

I like the simplicity of water
The way, for example
It has no path,
Willing to go anywhere
Big oceans, small lakes
Large clouds on the horizon

I like the sense of peace it brings
Slowly rippling, swirling
The sense of pervading calm
Soaring above,
And within the water

And the inspiration,
it carries
The dreams that follow
While beneath the willows,
Next to the river

Even its power is incredible
Deadly forces creating beauty
Canyons from plains
Valleys from mountains
Tunnels deep below

There is a grace to deadly force
As you look over the edge
Quarter mile by quarter mile
Slowly searching the depths
For its creator

And I never fail to be awed
By the giving nature
Water for life
Water for fun
Water for death

Water perpetually moving
Continuing beyond
Moving mindlessly
